One Mighty Fine Day
02:09
|

One mighty fine day I'll make a friend
Who'll stick with me until the end.
We'll go walking hand in hand,
And draw our names in the land.
I have social anxiety
Thought no one knew what it was like to be me.
But then I met you at a rally
Women's March has helped me see.
We'll stick together in rain or shine
I am yours and you are mine.
Togetherness stands the test of time
To tow the rope or walk the line.
We found each other and millions more
Of women who want to stand up and soar.
One mighty fine day with all my friends
We'll stick it out until the end.
We'll go walking hand in hand
For equal rights, we'll make our stand.

Guest House

Beneath the mountain where the river disappears
Keeps on flowing, the beauty runs deep.
The soul of the water saturates the earth around it
And is rich with happiness and love that's never lost.
And should you follow the path
Up the winding road
Friends and lovers
Greet you with their smiles.
When darkness falls the lights keep on shining.
Just like the river full of life under the cover of the stone.
So why don't you stay a while in the trees
Like the river, be free
Friends and lovers
Embrace you as you are.

Angels

We have angels above smiling down on us
They are watching and knowing what we face.
We have angels around walking one step behind
With out-stretched arms to catch us when we fall.
Into the sky, our angels, we hear your whispers
And we remember your names and your faces.
You laid the path before us and showed us where to start.
There is so much more to do even though you had to part.
We have angels above calling out for us.
"Keep walking" they say as they take our hands.
We have angels around hand in hand, arm in arm
With love and courage to march on.

Work of Art

A Woman's body is a work of art
Admire, don't touch it's not yours.
Take a look and notice the light in her eyes
If you are lucky she might shine it on you.
Take a look and notice the scar on her skin
If you are trustworthy she might share her story.
Take a look and notice the calm in her voice
If you open your ears she might talk to you.
Take a look and notice how she moves with grace
Adjust your pace and she might walk with you.
Take a look and see her give a speech to the crowd
If you open your mind you'll learn a thing or two.
Take a look and see the heavy burden she bears
If you carry your weight
And if it's not too late
Act like a real man and get permission from her.
A woman's body is a work of art
She might let you touch, the choice is hers.

Andrea Diggs Charles Town, West Virginia
I'm not much of one for fancying up myself, and so preferred to keep my songs raw as well - just my guitar and me. I'm a classically trained flutist, but my earliest musical memories are of singing with family in the southern mountains of WV. This album comes full circle for me, I guess. ... more
